Great news, Disney fans! All aboard one of our favorite Magic Kingdom attractions. We are not sure if this is a soft opening or an early opening, but we are excited either way.

The Walt Disney World Railroad is welcoming guests back at Magic Kingdom, reopening ahead of schedule after a month-long refurbishment.

We spotted the iconic steam train back in action, with guests enjoying rides around the park!

Railroad Returns Ahead of Schedule

The Walt Disney World Railroad temporarily closed on September 28, 2026, for a scheduled refurbishment that was expected to continue through November.

However, the trains are already running today!

A quick online check shows the railroad isn’t yet listed as operating on the My Disney Experience app or Walt Disney World’s website, suggesting guests are experiencing a soft reopening ahead of an official status update.

Our reporters caught the train running and pulling into the station, along with guests enjoying the open-air passenger cars.

The Need to Know

The Walt Disney World Railroad was built between 1916 and 1928 and offers a nostalgic and relaxing 20-minute ride around the park. Guests love the vintage red cars as it weaves through a 1.5-mile scenic tour.

Before the refurbishment, the Walt Disney World Railroad operated on a modified route because of ongoing construction at Piston Peak National Park.

Trains stopped at Main Street, U.S.A. and Fantasyland, while the Frontierland station was temporarily unavailable.

The attraction also introduced updated onboard narration this year, giving guests something new to enjoy during their journey.
